Affected versions of the virtualenv package are vulnerable to Command Injection due to improper quoting of template string placeholders in activation scripts. The vulnerability exists in the ViaTemplateActivator class, where magic template strings like __VIRTUAL_ENV__ are replaced in shell activation scripts without proper escaping or quoting, allowing shell metacharacters to be interpreted as commands during string substitution.
