PyUp Safety Usage Policy

Our goal is to ensure that PyUp customers receive fair and reliable access to our vulnerabilities database. To minimize the impact that heavier usage might have on the experience of other PyUp customers, we have a series of rules to govern how often and from how many IP addresses our customers may access our vulnerabilities database.

When a customer’s total usage exceeds the threshold that is included in the relevant package, extra charges will occur.

However, please note that the vast majority of customers will not be affected by this aspect of our policy.

Plan Included users To add extra users Maximum # of calls per month For extra calls Maximum # of IP addresses For extra IP addresses
Enterprise Depends on the contract
Organization 10 Get another Organization License 10,000 $0.10 per call 15 $50 per IP address per month
Business 5 Get another Business License 5,000 $0.10 per call 10 $50 per IP address per month
Personal / Pro / Basic (legacy license) 1 Update to a Business License 1,000 $0.10 per call 2 $50 per IP address per month
Free (legacy license) 1 N/A 1,000 Extra calls are blocked 2 Extra IP addresses are blocked

Unless a special arrangement has been agreed upon, PyUp licenses do not allow users to resell the PyUp services or share API keys with parties other than the team members who are included in the PyUp license. If PyUp, acting reasonably, determines that a customer is violating this policy, it may immediately suspend, restrict, alter, or terminate all or part of any provided service or take other necessary protective measures.

FAQ

What is the difference between the free and paid PyUp accounts?

The free plan is for non-commercial open source projects. You can create a PyUp account, and add your public GitHub repos, as well as use our free Safety CLI and PyUp CLI tools to manage dependencies.

If you are using PyUp for a commercial project, or you want to get access to our realtime up-to-date vulnerability database, you require a paid PyUp account.

What payment methods are accepted?

Credit cards. We accept VISA, MasterCard and American Express. Payment is processed through stripe.

Can I switch plans?

Yes, absolutely. All plans are prorated, so you can switch plans or cancel at any time.

What is the difference between the free Safety DB and PyUp's paid commercial safety database?

Our free Safety DB can be used for non-commercial projects and is updated once a month. This database is meant to be used by non-commercial open source projects.

PyUp's commercial safety database is continously updated as soon as new vulnerabilities are discovered. If you are on a paid plan you get access to this commercial safety database.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. If you want to cancel your account, you can do that any time. The account will be downgraded to the free plan when the billed period ends.

Do I need to add a credit card for the free account?

No. The plan is called free, so we don't need your credit card information.
